Original soundtrack to the 80s anime of the same name. I had intended on restoring my vinyl copy of this but I had to resort to using the CD version instead. Mrs. Castell's theme always sounds distorted on vinyl, and I've purchased multiple copies of it to confirm...probably a mastering issue or something idk. Anyways it's not on the CD version.
This was the the 4th time in which Pony Canyon decided to bundle together 10+ BGM tracks into a single track—the last three times being 3 other OSTs that Hiroshi Ogasawara also composed LOL. I have my own gripes with it, but really t

Top of the World Carpenters
Such a feelin's comin' over me There is wonder in 'most ev'ry thing I see Not a cloud in the sky, got the sun in my eyes And I won't be surprised if it's a dream Everything I want the world to be Is now comin' true especially for me And the reason is clear, it's because you are here You're the nearest thing to heaven that I've seen I'm on the top of the world lookin' down on creation And the only explanation I can find Is the love that I've found ever since you've been around Your love's put me at the top of the world Somethin' in the wind has learned my name And it's tellin' me that things are not the same In the leaves on the trees and the touch of the breeze There's a pleasin' sense of happiness for me There is only one wish on my mind When this day is through I hope that I will find That tomorrow will be just the same for you and me All I need will be mine if you are here I'm on the top of the world lookin' down on creation And the only explanation I can find Is the love that I've found ever since you've been around Your love's put me at the top of the world I'm on the top of the world lookin' down on creation And the only explanation I can find Is the love that I've found ever since you've been around Your love's put me at the top of the world

Synchronized audio track from a vinyl rip of a Swedish pressing of "The Album". Note the uncompressed dynamic range, the natural ambience of the voices, and the open soundstage (Listen to Agnetha's solo vs the chorus). Much better sound quality compared to almost any CD remaster out there.

Berliner Philharmoniker Conductor: Wilhelm Furtwangler Live recording in 1943, at Berlin New mastering in 2022 by AB for CMRR
For those who don't know it yet, this is the greatest 7th symphony of Beethoven in the history of recording and probably performed by the greatest conductor of all time. A public performance in the middle of the war, of extreme tension and culminating in a finale with a rhythm of increasing rapidity that makes you dizzy. Indeed, Wilhelm Furtwangler is almost the only conductor who is completely free with the measure and who is able to use rubato with his whole orchestra in an improvised way. Indeed, rehearsals were of little importance to him, the most important thing was the present time and the construction of an overall architecture leading to the climax of the work, all this directed with an iron fist. In Furtwangler's hands, everything is living matter, and Furtwangler, like a potter who shapes his clay, shapes his orchestra. The musical experience becomes almost mystical. We no longer speak of musical notes but of matter, of telluric force..

--------------
The music making is unmistakeable, but the historical context cannot be ignored.
This concert was performed in the presence of Nazis, just weeks before the openings of Belzec, Sobibor, and Treblinka II - and the close-up images of members of the audience, being corrupted by great music, turns the stomach.
Furtwangler looks like he wishes he was anywhere on earth but there. His performance of Beethoven's 9th under similar conditions a month later is now in the history books, as is the look on his face and his general demeanour - a mixture of terror, utter repulsion, and intense discomfort, when Goebbels leans in for a handshake. It may be the most profound performance of Beethoven ever recorded - but clearly Furtwangler's pulpable desperation to convey Beethoven's message of friendship, peace, and brotherhood fell on deaf ears.
This clip isn't so often seen.
Picture and audio quality is predictably not pristine, but having said that, I've been able to make some significant improvements to the soundtrack... no less, dealing with the opening bar, which was badly damaged in commercial release and can now be properly heard, for the first time, I believe.
