ってあるんだけどありえなくないですか？
rootで実行させる必要ないと思います。
例えば、

$delete_dir = OPENPNE_VAR_DIR ."/img_cache/" . $target_dir;
exec("rm -rf $delete_dir");
?>
なんてコードがあって、バグで
$target_dir = " /"
とかだったりするとOSごとサヨナラですね。
