Hi,I think that a common scenario of this type of fraud is ordering gift certificates and having them 'delivered' to the fraudulent new email address. These criminals are virtually (pun intended) untraceable as all links will lead back to your account. On Amazons advice I always remove my card details from my account after any purchase and I have closed my seller account as it contained all of my bank details. It's a pain I know but better to be safe than sorry especially as Amazon don't seem too bothered, blaming the account holder for some sort of security lapse rather than updating their own system. I was told that I must have clicked on a bogus Amazon email link and divulged my account details - but I 100% know that I have never done this. These type of phishing emails are well known to most people and I feel that Amazon is just not taking responsibility and blaming the account holder! I would suggest that you diligently check all your emails as my first notion that anything was awry was an email from Amazon informing me of confirmation of a "change" of email address- when I tried to phone them I was locked out as my password had been changed also!!
