起動時のメッセージで

と出るからです。それと、起動後に root で
$ifup eth0
するとやはり
3c59x device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.
と言われます。
まぁこの二つはまったく同じ操作のはずなので
まったく同じ結果（メッセージ）が標示されていると思うのですが。
