BMPx: The successor to BMP, but not the same thing
BMPx is the continuation of the XMMS-based BMP (sometimes referred to by people as "BMP classic") as a product, but it shares almost no code with it at all, and has been generally rewritten from the ground up with none of the old code in mind. BMPx is the current upstream product from our experimental codebase, that will eventually produce BMP 2.0 (see chapter below).
The `bmpx' codebase has also (mostly-)recently been ported to C++ using GTKmm.
