Since the start of the year, benchmark indexes in Korea, Thailand, Turkey and
Brazil all have fallen by 8% or more, and the Morgan Stanley Capital International
Emerging Markets Index is down 7.9% in dollar terms.
今年に入ってドル換算で見た韓国、タイ、トルコ、ブラジルなどの株式が8％以上下落
しており、モルガンスタンレーのMSCIエマージングマーケット指数は7.9%下落した。

エマージングマーケットの経済は堅調だが、アジア諸国では2005年の総生産の55%は輸出
向けである(アジア開発現行のデータ)。これは2002年には45%であった。アジア地域内貿
易は増大しているものの、最終的にはアジア諸国の輸出の60%がアメリカ、欧州、日本向
けである。

Economic impact aside, emerging-economy stock markets have become more highly
correlated to those in the developed world in recent years. That's because global
investors have piled into these countries, deepening the connection to world-wide
investment shifts. And when markets get more volatile, they all tend to move
together, as they have this week.
経済効果をひとまず置いておくとしてもエマージングマーケットの株式市場は以前にもま
して先進国の株式市場との連関が強まっている。それはグローバル投資家がそれら市場に
参入しているためで株式市場が不安定化するとき、エマージングマーケットの株式市場も
同じように不安定化し、そうしたことが今週起こっている。
