We announce the public availability of the first release of MP-MPICH (MP
stands for "multi-platform"). MP-MPICH is an implemenatation of the
MPI-1 standard which is based on the current MPICH distribution. It
differs from this distribution in the following aspects:

- it is a single source tree which compiles under nearly every Unix
(just like the original MPICH), but also under Windows NT (tested with
Visual C++ 5.0)
- it includes special communication devices for Windows NT:
o ch_wsock for inter-process communication via TCP/IP
o ch_lfshmem for inter-process communication via shared-memory (useful
for SMP systems)
- a remote-execution tool (service and GUI/batch shell) is
available for NT

- MP-MPICH is a superset of SCI-MPICH which allows inter-process
communication directly via a fast SCI-interconnect. This results
in message latencies of less than 7us between distinct nodes.
SCI-MPICH is usable with PCI-SCI-adapters of
"Dolphin Interconnect Solutions" (URLﾘﾝｸ(www.dolphinics.no)<)
