/etc/fstab や /boot/grub/grub.conf の記述は sda になっています。
ですが root= を sda にするとカーネルパニックが起こり、今試しに hda にしてみたところ、
カーネルパニックは起こらず、代わりに以下のようなエラーがでました。

fsck.ext3: No such file or directory wihle trying to open /dev/sda3
/dev/sda3:
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2
filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2
filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock
is corrupt, and you might try runnning e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
32fsck -b 8139 <device>

* Filesystem couldn't be fixed :(
Give root password for maintenance
(or type Control-D to continue):
