mythtvが32bit版でmysqlが64bit版なのが原因なんでしょうか? 
 
端末からはmysqlに接続できて、 
 
$ mysql -u root -p < /usr/share/doc/mythtv-docs-0.20.2/database/mc.sql 
 
した後 
 
$ mysqlshow -u root -p 
 
すると

+--------------------+ 
| information_schema | 
| mysql              | 
| mythconverg        | 
| test               | 
+--------------------+ 
 
と表示されるんでmythconvergはできてるみたいなんですけど…
