Linux ではなく FreeBSD で恐縮ですが。
20030722:
FPU-less support has been removed from FreeBSD. Chances are you won't
notice. 386+387 support should still work after this change, but
it is now a minimum requirement for the i386 port that you have real
FPU hardware.
5-CURRENT は素の 80386 で動かなくなりますた。
