和訳が不安です。
But as the price of ivory keeps going up, hitting levels too high for many to resist, Gabon’s elephants are getting slaughtered by poachers from across the borders and within the rain forests, proof that just about nowhere in Africa are elephants safe.

以下自分で訳したものです。
しかし、象牙の価格が上がり続けるにつれて、多くのひとにとって抗いがたい水準に達し、ガボンの象は国境を越えてやってくる密猟者や雨林のなかにいる密猟者に虐殺されるようになり、アフリカにほとんどどこにも象が安全に過ごせる場所がないことを証明した。

コンマで区切られた文章同士の繋がりもよくわかりません。どこがどこを修飾したり、受けているのか…。
ご指導お願いします。
