Han4 Bao3 Bao1 This is the transliteration of "Hamburger"

The problem is that when Chinese use the word "Han Bao Bao", they
mean either chicken burger or beef burger, but more generally the
former. I went to a restaurant and ordered a han bao bao and got
a chicken burger. I wasn't asked which kind of burger I wanted,
I was just given a chicken burger, by default. So, when I went
back, I ordered a BEEF burger. The lady was shocked. She had to
confirm that I really wanted beef and not chicken. THREE times
she had to confirm it. Finally, on the third time, I was getting
quite annoyed, and I slightly raised my voice, "Yes! Okay! Beef!"

これは、ハンバーガーの翻字である。
問題は、中国人が「Han Bao Bao」
と言う時、チキンバーガーとビーフバーガーの両方を指し
大抵の場合は前者に対して使われると言うことだ。
とあるレストランへ行った時にhan bao baoを注文したらチキンバーガーを出された。
どちらの種類か聞かれることなく、チキンバーガーを出されたのだ。
再びその店へ行った時には「ビーフバーガー」を注文した。
すると店員の女性は驚き、本当にチキンではなくビーフでいいのか確認された。3度もだ。
3度目に聞かれた時、イラついていた私は少し声を荒げ「そうだ！ビーフだ！」と言った。

My first "language shock" was when I learned that Korean has
three (sometimes four) levels of speech. I was going around
saying, "Anyeonghashimnigga?" to all the children, until one
day, one of the children told me that I was wrong. I should
say, "Anyeong" to little children, because I'm older. "Oh!"
I thought. The book didn't teach me that! Yeah. Get used to
it. My experience with language books that try to teach
foreigner how to speak the local lingo are VERY lacking.

Chinese seem to think that this functions as a request.
And while sometimes it does (in the vernacular), I don't
think it is proper. It certainly ins't as common as
"Could you do sth?" for a request. Maybe is seems
wrong because my middle school students use it to me,
and it seems a bit rude. So, I always answer: "Yes,
I can, but I'm not going to." You should see the
reaction this gets. Cracks me up. When speaking to
an older person or person in authority, it seems more
polite to ask: "Could you do something?"

This movie started out as an apparently good movie, but about halfway
through it started to go to hell. The only mildly good thing about the
latter half of the movie was Sean Connery, who pretty much shines
through the entire movie. His acting was pretty good, and could have
been a saving grace, had the movie not been so bad. The end was
especially horrible, as it was a nearly total ripoff of Cape Fear
(the new version, with Robert De Niro), in fact, several lines were
