We all have two different voices inside of us: one that is caring,
and one that is critical. Our caring voice brings self-compassion
and encouragement, while the inner critical voice helps you recognize
and remember where you have made a mistake, so you don’t do it again.
But for most people, the inner critic is too dominating and brings scolding,
shaming, nit-picking, and fault finding. Instead of being a helper, your inner
critic is degrading and punishing. It increases your feeling of self-hate without
motivating you to change undesirable qualities or act in a constructive manner.
It’s big and powerful, while the inner nurturer is small and ineffective.
