英文法の難問を出していくスレ

このスレの最後の問題の、
彼とは最初からウマがあった。彼が退職するとき、私はいたたまれない気持ちになった。
(1) I was getting along well with him from the scratch, so I was not able to endure his retirement.
(2) From the beginning, I had wonderful chemistry with him. Therefore, his retirement hit me hard.
(3) He and I were doing pretty well from the start. On his retirement day, I was unable to stay calmly.
(4) I got a good vibe from him when we first met. His retirement deprived me of our friendship.
これの答えは(2)らしいんですけど、なぜそうなるんでしょうか？この問題だけ解説がなくて、気になって仕方ないです。
